RCBC Wi-Fi Network Access Policy
Rowan College at Burlington County (RCBC) provides two Wi-Fi networks for on-campus use:
- RCBCpublicWiFi – Grants access to the Internet and cloud-based college resources such as email and Blackboard.
- RCBCStaffWiFi – Provides the same access as RCBCpublicWiFi, with the additional capability to connect to protected on-campus systems including Colleague UI, Informer, CountOne, shared drives, and other internal resources.
Both networks operate on the same hardware, software, and security configurations, with the exception of endpoint access and user authentication protocols.
Security Considerations
Access to RCBCStaffWiFi requires stricter handling due to its connection to systems that may contain Personally Identifiable Information (PII). Unauthorized access or data breaches involving these systems could result in harm or significant interruption to RCBC operations. As such, access to the Staff network introduces a cybersecurity risk, defined as:
“The potential for exposure or loss resulting from a cyberattack or data breach on your organization.”
Remote Access Justification
Employees who are unable to perform their standard job functions using RCBCpublicWiFi must provide a brief justification outlining the essential duties—performed during the normal course of college operations—that require access to protected college resources (e.g., Colleague UI, Informer, CountOne) while working away from their office docking station.
This justification will be used to assess and document remote access needs in accordance with institutional security policies.
