A More Sustainable Login Experience Arrives: January 16, 2026

On Thursday, Jan. 16, 2026 your full email address will become your new username, you may be asked to establish a new password, and also reconfigure Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) to log into BaronOne. Although this is a one-time inconvenience, it is necessary to deliver a more consistent and sustainable technology infrastructure for the college.

Why the Change?

Currently, employee access is managed by two separate, unsynchronized identity providers. This decentralized setup requires most of our services (BaronOne, Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, college computers, etc.) to check different, separate lists to confirm who you are, creating unnecessary complexity, increasing the risk of failures and resulting in unexpected outcomes.

We are consolidating both systems into a single, industry-standard platform: Microsoft Entra ID. Over time, Entra is expected to provide one centralized, reliable source of truth for identity management across all our systems and constituents.

What Can We Do?

  • Proactive Setup (Strongly Recommended): The Office of Information Technology (OIT) will provide the opportunity to set up your new credentials before Jan. 16. Completing this early will help make a more seamless transition for everyone, as we struggle to help those who “didn’t get the memo.”

  • Plan for Downtime: The transition is scheduled early next year, during the very few non-class days, to minimize course disruption. Brief downtime will occur for certain systems as we transition them from the old providers to Entra ID. Try to be prepared for that by planning for potential downtime, if possible, or notify us if it’s absolutely not possible.

  • Use the BaronOne Interface: The interface and “cards” will remain familiar, as we intend to complete the migration of all applications from the old portal by the end of the year. Start using the new portal available at rcbc.edu/baronone now, so you are comfortable with it then.

What Happens Next?

We will follow up shortly with step-by-step instructions on how to complete the proactive setup and will share troubleshooting and problem resolution steps widely so anyone can hopefully assist those who were not proactive.

Thank you for your cooperation as we implement these necessary changes to build a more consistent and sustainable future for the college.

OIT is still configuring and testing the new system.  More information will be shared as specifics become available.
